Leon is known for it’s healthy fast food and one wouldn’t usually associate it with all things musical. However on February 13th, a brand new concept came to fruition, in the heart of London’s Theatreland featuring a forty-strong team of singers from all over the UK.
What makes this Leon branch different is that diners are treated to live performances whilst they eat. Not to be confused with any odd West End karaoke bar, all members of the team went through a series of rigorous auditions in front of renowned professionals, to be quite frank, sing for your supper.
“We did it!”
Co-founder of LEON John Vincent, who was also on the audition panel, said: “We did it! In just six weeks we auditioned, hired and trained a team who can both prepare the full range of LEON’s menu AND belt out a show tune or pop classic in between times. I’ve watched them perform both individually and as an ensemble – they gave me goosebumps. I’m biased as I’m from a household that LOVES musicals, but it’s going to be incredible – come and see for yourself.”
The interior is another reason why you should “come and see it for yourself”. Without wanting to spoilt it for you, this Leon branch immerses you into the world of theatre and even has it’s ‘Royal box’. The level of detail is evident and if you find yourself needing the ‘Dressing Room’ to freshen up, you’ll be feeling like a star in no time. As well as paying homage to showbiz past and present, all the staff are also featured in a ‘Hall of Fame’ style gallery helping to promote them as actors. No need to battle for Employee of the Month now. Not only that, Leon gives team members professional vocal training, quarterly master classes to prepare for successful auditions and time off to attend auditions. If that isn’t a supportive boss, what is?
Plus Minus
I headed on down with Jodie from Plus Minus team headed on down to this incredible branch last Friday and we were super impressed with the decor, the friendliness of the staff and best of all the food. Whether you’re vegan, gluten intolerant or simply watching what you eat, the Leon menu is simple to follow and the staff are more than happy to answer any questions. We recommend the Fish Finger Wrap and Aioli sauce, you’ve been warned.
