This probably sounds all ‘woe is me’ but I have cancelled four trips due to the current pandemic and this is the longest travel break I’ve had in the past three years. Call it nature’s way of telling me and the rest of us to do exactly that: REST. However whilst we’re experiencing this downtime in our lives, I’ve been using it to decide what I want out of my next trips and of course what I’ll be taking with me.
THE KNOWLEDGE
The knowledge that the world has just been through something tragic *should* make you see the world in a new light. Knowledge is power. We live in a digital age where information is available at our fingertips. Before you start your travels, make sure you do your research – Are the borders open? Am I ready to embrace the ‘new normal’? Am I ready to comply with new rules and regulations? Perhaps it is time to learn Spanish online too?
Hoping me and my new knowledge go places.

THE JACKET*
When I travel I end up taking a couple of different jackets or coats with me either because the weather is temperamental or I like to have options. I wear the over-packer badge with pride. I was kindly sent this gorgeous soft-shell jacket from TOG24 and it’s been perfect for the transitional weather we’ve been having as we go into Spring.
At the moment I am only allowed outside for my one hour of government allocated exercise so I’ve been wearing it on my walks to the park and if I need to go to the supermarket. It’s warm, fits well and the zipped pockets are great for keeping my valuables secure.
When I’m allowed to travel again, I can’t wait to take this on European ski breaks or simply on those long-haul flights where the temperature is fickle. The jacket is currently on sale for £39 on the TOG24 website.
My government allocated exercise attire. 2020 has been fun.
THE NAIL TOOLS*
Quarantine has turned me into my own nail tech and whilst it’s great to get creative and do things for myself – using the wrong the equipment can be damaging. Thankfully, I was kindly sent the luxurious Rubis cuticle scissors and nail clipper which made the job much easier. I can’t wait to take these with me on my next trips and do my nails somewhere beautiful.
Rubis® Cuticle Scissors – £23.50 – Cult Beauty The slightly curved, hand-sharpened blades crafted out of hardened martensitic steel cut your nails to perfection. They trim your cuticles neatly and smoothly, tidying them up. The ergonomically shaped handle grips offer supreme comfort and stability. Even after many years, our scissors lose none of their original functionality thanks to their high-quality materials, design and workmanship.
Rubis® Nail Clipper – £28.50 – Cult Beauty This high-quality nail clipper is made of carbon steel with a refined design, and the combination of the handle’s lever action and the very sharp blades ensures a clean cut. The ergonomically shaped handle grip offers supreme comfort. Smooth over the edges of your nails with the extremely gentle glass nail file from the set after trimming. You will be able to rely on these clippers for many years thanks to their high-quality materials, workmanship and design.
THE PHONE CASE*
Want Mobile are a family run business specialising in high-quality phone cases. Best of all, you can personalise the designs according to what suits you. I, of course kept my travel themed and personalised my case with the phrase ‘Book the flight’ – words I live by. Even though I’m not booking any flights for the foreseeable future (thank you Covid-19), I will when we get the all clear. If it’s not booked, it’s not happening… unless a pandemic happens.
But make sure it’s a flexible one.
I drop my phone at least twice a day and the case truly stands up to the shockproof test. You can shop my case here.

THE JEWELLERY*
I had plans to visit Poland mid-March and shoot some great travel content but again, life comes at you fast. Instead, I’ve been shooting content at home and strangely enjoying it. It’s all about getting creative and experimenting. The same goes for feeling like yourself too. I love make up and dressing up and a few weekends ago I thought why not glam up for a FaceTime with the girls.
I was kindly sent these gorgeous earrings from Abelini jewellery and I am in love. They’re high-quality, look incredible on and best of all add a little to my current social distancing life. Shop the range here.
What will you be taking with you on your next trip(s)?
