Way back in November, I met up with an old friend of mine Iyanu for a spot of shopping and exploring down Oxford Street. I hadn’t seen her for three or four years. We had so much to talk and reminisce about especially since she has now moved to Nigeria and runs her own fashion label, Doo by Iyanu.
She remembered I had a blog (which is SO sweet) and wanted to do a little collaboration series on the differences and similarities between shopping and fashion in Nigeria and London.
Here is my take on shopping in London…
Shopping in London if I’m honest is something else, you can go from the high street to high end in a matter of steps. Regent Street, Oxford Street, Mayfair and Soho all cross paths at some points or another and whether you’re like me and like to window shop or have shopping bags weigh down your soul. You will either leave feeling inspired, tired or happy you have acquired some new purchases.
I think what makes London a popular shopping destination for everyone is choice and the focus on personal style. Whether you rock basics (e.g Zara) or designer clothing (e.g Alexander McQueen), there is definitely something for everyone. This is what makes is such a popular destination, why our fashion week is iconic and why I prefer the shopping here to anywhere else in the world. Even if I do most of my own online. I’ve travelled a fair bit and nothing excites me more than UK shops – I can get things for my own personal style, mix it up and if I want to be different, I can hunt around for vintage and one off pieces.
I can’t really comment about the shopping or fashion in Nigeria but I do know it focuses more on print, patterns and tailoring, so if you’re in Lagos anytime soon, do check out Doo by Iyanu.
Well, one thing’s for sure-shopping and fashion would be a lot more fun where I live if I had a physique like that! 😉
Haha! I’m sure it’ll be just as fun regardless 🙂🙂🙂
I love everything!! <3

Thanks Daniela!
Love the colors you shopped ! I live in Paris so I guess my shopping experience might be pretty much the same as in London ? Except maybe for luxury brands like Chanel, Dior… but I’m not sure 😊
It is very similar but Paris has Sephora!
Wow! Love the styles you are rocking hun and you do have a gorgeous figure. You look like a young Naomi Campbell! Stunning.
When I went to London last, I stayed at Claridges. There was the store Browns nearby and the shopping street Mayfair too. There was Smythson, Alice Temperley, Stella McCartney, Jimmy Choo, Chanel, Céline, Louis Vuitton, Selfridges, Mikimoto, Burberry, Christian Louboutin, Jospeh, Karl Lagerfeld, Prada, Dover Street Market, Harvey Nichols, Anya Hindmarch and Manolo Blahnik all within walking distance from the hotel! Bond street, too.
Simply fabulous. Can’t wait to go back one day again.

It is as fabulous as London’s shopping scene itself!
Thank you for your comment Jessie, unfortunately, that is my dear friend in the photos!
I’ve never heard of that Browns store but it sounds absolutely amazing and even if you’re nor buying it sounds like it’s worth a browse!
I will definitely be browsing your blog though!
