Have you always fancied a trip down under to Australia? The country is so huge, you will find an absolutely huge range of places you could visit. After all, this single country is larger than the whole of Europe! Crazy!
If you only have time to visit one Australian city during your trip, I think that it has to be Sydney. It may not be the country’s capital city, but it is certainly the most diverse and vibrant. Here are some great things you can do while visiting Sydney.
Try The Wine
The whole of Australia is known for its fantastic wines, and you will certainly find plenty of opportunities to sample some of the local tipples! The city has lots of different wine bars and pubs where you can try various ones, or you could also take a special wine trip. There are many different wine trips you can take from Sydney, including the popular hunter valley wine tours. On these kinds of tours, you will get to see the gorgeous countryside and will also visit a few of the area’s popular vineyards.
If there is one part of being in Sydney that everyone loves, it’s the fantastic weather. It always feels like summer over there! And there is only one thing to do when it is summer – hit the beach! The best beach in Sydney has to be Bondi Beach. This internationally famous beach is a major attraction for both tourists and locals. At 7 kilometres long, the beach is extremely large and is often the location of some pretty awesome beach parties!
Sydney Harbour Bridge
One of the city’s most famous landmarks has to be the Harbour Bridge. You can cross the bridge on foot, by car, or on a bike, but most people just pose in front of it in the harbour for a quick selfie. If you have a head for heights, you can also join a bridge climb group, who will take you right up to the top of the bridge.
Taronga Zoo is very popular with families, but there is no reason why grown-up kids can’t go as well! Especially if you love animals! There are lots of native animals here waiting to meet you, including kangaroos, wallabies, and koala bears. But there are plenty of other animals and sea creatures from around the world as well!
Sydney is also home to many excellent museums. If you want to learn more about the history of the city, you should spend the day at the Museum of Sydney, where you can get hands on with lots of interactive exhibitions. The Australian Museum covers everything from the country’s nature and culture and takes visitors on a journey back through the country’s entire past. There are also lots of one-off exhibitions so you can be sure that you will see something different every time you go!
I guess it’s time for me to start saving for my trip to Sydney, excuse my whilst I re-mortgage my life…
