It’s taken a long while for me to finish these off but I am determined to get them done them posted but I go to Vegas AGAIN this September!
*Flashback to October 2016*
Breakfast
Room Service is my favourite thing ever. There is something about going back to basics, picking up a phone to order food and speaking to a human being that makes me realise that not everything needs an app. Well if the hotel had an app for everything, I’m sure I wouldn’t have even typed that sentence.
Anyway, if you’re wondering, we ordered the incredibly overpriced Fluffy Buttermilk Pancakes and the Meat Lovers breakfast. I added dark chocolate chips to my pancakes because why not and I’d thought I’d eaten enough on this trip, so why not eat some more?
30 to 45 minutes later, our food arrived and we concluded that American hash browns are weird, it’s kinda like a pile of shredded onions. They taste nothing like the ones in the UK, so we soon shoved them to the side of our plate. The pancakes, on the other hand, were amazing… buttermilk is going to be my absolute weakness one day.
Our plan for the day…
My friend decided he wanted to get some more sleep and I wanted to even out my tan and go for a swim. So I got ready, put my swimsuit on, grabbed my sunglasses and made my way down to the pool deck of the Trump hotel… You know when it’s SO hot that even your sweat is sweating, that’s what Vegas heat is like and bear in mind, this is October. I still don’t know who thought it was a good idea to build a city in the middle of the desert?
Of course, I get to the pool and it’s out of service *sigh*. So I guess it was time to even out my tan, catch up on some reading and eventually take a well-deserved nap.
The thing with going to a place like Vegas is that you do feel a certain ‘pressure’ to do everything. You know, go to every hotel and witness every single thing but sometimes you gotta take a step back and realise you’re not superhuman. Tiredness kicks in and you have to listen to your body. You don’t need to be drunk 24/7 on holiday or spending all your money on things you really don’t want to do. You can always go back after all.
*rant over*
After a well-earned nap, I headed back to my room to get ready for our late-afternoon activities. This proves my point that your holiday is what you make it. Do you really need to be out all day and all night? You can sleep by the pool or back in your plush hotel bed and energise yourself for other activities around the clock. Well especially in a 24 hour city.
On my last trip to Vegas, I did the infamous gondola ride at The Venetian solo as my friend didn’t want to come with. This was absolutely fine as we respect each other’s company, but this time, it was great to have my friend take those candid photos of me (HA). I will never get over how stunning it is inside The Venetian, blink and you’ll think you’re in Venice itself. Except you’re not and you just realise you’ve spent $20 on an artificial experience.
Yard Bird and a Freak Dome (What?)
After roaming around The Venetian Hotel, losing some money in the slot machines, we soon built up a hunger. Remembering I’d been to Yard Bird before and potentially had the best fried chicken ever, that was where we headed to fuel up before our festivities that evening. If you’re wondering, Yard Bird is your typical Southern American eatery with everything from grits to St. Louis style ribs. I’m drooling as I type and I highly recommend trying the ‘Chicken ‘N’ Watermelon ‘N’ Waffles’ if you’re ever in town. After letting our food sink in, we walked around a little more, took some photos of the Las Vegas sunset and had a look through the Wynn hotel.
We had booked tickets to Fright Dome which is described as Vegas’ scariest haunted house attraction. We grabbed an Uber to the Circus Circus hotel, queued up for around 20 minutes, bought our tickets and were soon let into the Fright Dome a little after 7 pm. At around $35 to $40 (I can’t remember), all I can say it was SO worth it, especially as we purchased fast track tickets. We didn’t want to spend half our night queueing and it also meant we had access to an Ouija themed maze. Without wanting to spoil it for you, because I truly think this is something needs to experience for themselves, Fright Dome is the scariest experience I’ve ever had. Picture a theme park within a dome, with the lights out and clowns running around with chainsaws. Let’s just say I purchased a dummy at one point of the night. Word of a warning, if you’re easily scared, pregnant or have a heart condition, this may not be for you.
Afterwards, we walked around Circus Circus which is aptly circus themed and if you’re short on money but wanting lots of fun, this is the place to be. It was around 11 pm and there were kids up and awake like it’s nothing, anything goes in Vegas! There are circus acts and performers on pretty much every 15 minutes and who knew watching someone hula hoop would be so mesmerising?
Sober fun is not so bad after all…

I love the idea of exploring Vegas, it looks amazing especially in the photo with the sunset! I would love to go but I have a fear of flying so I feel like it’d be a bigger challenge than I could handle!
