I suffer from January blues, but this January I made a vow to myself to let this be a month of reflection, not to be so hard on myself and set realistic milestones. One week and a bit in and I’ve been to the gym over fives times (wahey), I’ve broken my #DryJanuary pact and I wasted money on an unnecessary Uber journey. Again, I’m not going beat myself up about this, but I am going to try harder this week. You have to be disciplined, right?
Even though you may be stuck in the office, dreaming of where you’d like to be, just know you’re not alone and January is what you’d consider to be a hangover of the previous year. However, I can’t even describe how much travel is a great way to combat January blues.
This infographic from Furniture At Work sums it up perfectly. #OfficeNarnia indeed! How travel can help…
- It makes you smarter
- It gives you something to look forward to
- It makes you more organised
- It gives you purpose
It makes you realise there is more to the world than your current surroundings. There is that phrase that goes ‘live as if you’ll die tomorrow’ and I’m sure if we all did we wouldn’t be at work for starters, so you can break up your monotony by having a trip booked. Or shock yourself and go last-minute, there is no time like the present after all.

I agree – having a sunny holiday on the cards helps, just having something to look forward to in general helps – preferably something over January/Feb. January is such a drag after the bright lights and merriment of Christmas – we definitely need some kind of pick me up!

Next year, I’m defo ensuring that for some of January I’m away because the cold weather and lack of funds really doesn’t help. So a holiday is great pick me up!
