A few Sundays ago, I headed on down to the Kings Arms in Hanwell to try out their menu and escape the confines of my room for a few hours. If you don’t live in the UK, we seem to be having an extended winter, meaning one snowflake makes the transport and infrastructure come to a halt.
Anyway, I am from the North of London and Hanwell is West, well roughly a 12 mile journey (I could be exaggerating) from my humble abode and that may be a little far to travel for lunch, but its good to get out and explore once in a while right? I am a travel blogger after all…
The Quest for the Pub
I met up with my good friend Saalane and we jumped on a bus from Ealing Common station to Hanwell Broadway and were at The Kings Arms in no time. Well it actually took me an hour and a bit BUT that it’s a change from going to my local ‘Spoons.
What I noticed when I first walked into the Kings Arms was how friendly everyone was, the bar staff said hello and all the customers seemed to be enjoying themselves. Most times I walk into a pub and the bar staff look at you like you’re an inconvenience.
How refreshing?
Saalane seated ourselves in a quiet corner of the pub away from the football and pondered over the menu. The Kings Arms specialises in pizza which makes a change from the usual roasted offerings a pub would normally do. Not sure what to go for, Ben, the manager suggested we try the Smoked Chicken and Avocado, the Nduja (I think) and some sides which involved Baba Ganoush and humous.
Looking back at what we tried and it actually looks pretty healthy, especially considering how greasy pizza can be. You can check out the menu here.
How was it?
Outside Italy, this was probably one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had. Fresh, tasty and filling. I could have taken another one home for safekeeping but I don’t know if I would have lasted that long.
You can definitely tell (and watch) that these pizzas do not come out of a box. They’re freshly made by talented chefs right in front of you (depending if you’re sat near the kitchen). I will definitely be making this journey again.
Of course, we washed our pizzas down with wine, because why not…
Dough-Nuts + Melted Nutella
But best of all… is the doughnuts and melted Nutella. It may sound simple, but they’re made with the same base as the pizza and of course love. I could attempt to make these at home but I know they won’t be as good, so I will just savour the memory instead…
Why you should visit?
- Mondays: 2 for 1 on pizzas
- Tuesdays: Craft beer taster offers
- Thursdays: Board games and Lego challenges
- Sundays: Quiz night
The Kings Arms is family friendly, sports friendly and open to all. Not just your average boozer, the staff are lovely and welcoming. I can’t wait to pop down during summer!

This is wonderful I like how you didn’t categorise travelling as only when you leave London. The food looks amazing and your review defo makes we wish I could try it. You can check me out at http://www.lifestylegems.com.ng and pls subscribe if you like my content 😊.
