Last week I headed on down to Viet Eat in Holborn after work to try out all things fresh, authentic, healthy and of course Vietnamese. Who doesn’t love more than trying out new places to eat around London? Sometimes the chain restaurants dominate the scene, but its an absolute must to support those smaller places too.
Pho real?
If you’re not familiar with Vietnamese cuisine, you may have heard of the traditional dish called ‘Pho’ which is a type of Vietnamese soup, typically made from beef stock and spices to which noodles and thinly sliced beef or chicken are added.
Sounds good, right?
Whilst I waited for my dear friend Saalane to arrive, I scrolled through Instagram of course whilst indulging in a glass of white wine. I usually find house white wines in restaurants to be bland and tasteless but this one was just the opposite, crisp, fruity and everything I needed after a long day/week/month/year/existence.
Saalane arrived shortly after and we caught up a little before mulling over the menu. Everything looked too good, I didn’t even notice you could order TWO starters as part of the set menu, so that was an instant mood boost.
What we ate
Chilli Salt and Pepper Squid
“Little bites of heaven.”

Sticky Honey Chicken Wings
“For extra punch add some chilli sauce”.
Fresh Summer Roll with Tiger Prawn
“I love how fresh this tasted and the peanut sauce was a nice contrast. It was even too pretty to eat!”

Mango Salad with Tiger Prawn
“Delicious, filling and fresh. This could have been a main, but also the perfect size for lunch”.
Honey Glaze BBQ Pork With Rice
“The best pork I’ve tasted in a while, the flavours, the texture and the taste were delicious. I’m coming back especially for this meal.”
Saalane had the traditional Pho, which she mentioned was lovely but needed more of a meaty broth.

Pandan and Coconut Panna Cotta
“This had an usual taste and texture, leaning more to the savoury side but it was delicious nonetheless. The sliced pepper was a lovely touch too.”
The service
The service was great overall with the only issue being some missing cutlery, but hey we all make mistakes right?
You can check out the set menu here and book a table here. I will certainly be back for lunch.
There are plenty of options if you are vegetarian too.

Please note, my meal was complimentary but all views are my own.
