I would like to now think I’m a pro when it comes to prepping for a trip. I will have my case packed at least a week in advance as well as an itinerary ready and all necessary documents. Have I become a perfectionist? Probably. But I usually get pre-travel anxiety, so I’d rather know I have gone through my 7 tips over and over again than forget something I really need.
1. Have a packing list
I cannot stress how important it is to have a packing list. Generally you *should* pack depending on climate, the activities you’ll be doing, or the type of travel, for example backpacking. Having a packing list helps you stay organised, pack multi-purpose items and stop you scrambling around in the airport buying things you forgot to bring.

2. Are your documents in order?
Such as: your passport (is it in date?), visa, hotel voucher, travel money and anything else you may need. Print off multiple copies and always have scans saved in your emails as a back up too.
3. Don’t skip on insurance
When I was in Vegas last year, one of my crew ended up in the hospital and we were SO thankful she was insured. Sometimes you might not want the additional cost, but when it comes to your life or your luggage, it’s a necessity. Bupa have a ton of options which you can check out here – https://www.bupaglobal.com/en
4. Check the laws and customs
This sounds a little serious but its worth checking up the laws and customs of the place you’re visiting. Do you really want to end up embarrassing your home nation and ending up on the news?
5. Do your research
This links in with all the above points, but before you even book, make sure have an idea of where you’re actually going, the things you want to do and see and how to get from A to B. No one wants to spend most of their short trip away getting from place to place do they? So read the TripAdvisor reviews, ask anyone if they’ve been before and immerse yourself in the destination before you’ve even been there. If all else fails, just go on a tour.
6. Look at blogs for inspiration and tips…
I have a huge tips section here.
7. Make a playlist
Forget the practical stuff and let the power of music take your mind on a mental journey.

Although some of us may be last-minute travellers and that’s absolutely fine, using my 7 tips will ensure your journey is a little more smoother.
